The 75th annual convention of GMTA turned out to be a bright spot in the current tough times of the trucking industry. Along with a great location and cooperative weather, attendees were treated to in-depth discussions on fuel cost savings, profitability, driver safety and more; with the highlight being a strong and entertaining keynote address by Governor Sonny Perdue.
Governor Perdue saluted GMTA on the occasion and gave a highly positive report on the state of Georgia's economy. He also gave attendees an overview of his efforts to ensure a growing future for freight transportation in our state. The Governor noted there was no single answer, no silver bullet, but that he was committed to ensuring the state developed answers that were market based and not mere mandates. He also thanked GMTA members for their involvement and expressed his desire to continue to work with the industry on future solutions.
